Let them eat CAKE! It’s an issue about celebration. About how cakes are made, how they are shared, and how they are displayed to bring visual joy and delicious pleasure to the taste buds. We invite you to engulf into the many worlds of cake and dessert makers: from minimalist worlds of desserts, to Victorian-era inspired sweet creations.

In this issue, we look into the lifecycle of textiles. The contributors show the versatility of textiles: a silk scarf can be a home, a sleeping bag can become a coat, and a garment can register experiences across time and place. Alongside the features there are 4 editorials dealing with garments: lace, carpets, fluffy dresses and the similarities of type and textiles.

For this issue we travelled to Paris, where we were inspired by the creativity, layered histories, and intricate details of the city. We asked a wide range of France-based creatives — from fine artists to an astrophysicist — to explore how they approach, engage, or embrace details in their work. Contributors answer this question through interviews, essays, and visuals.

The first issue is a love letter to Amsterdam. It is about localism – and the relationship to craft, creativity, and community. This issue feels like a long summer evening on a beach: crashing waves, salty air, breezy textiles, flora, sunsets and bright colours.
